KARACHI: Hundreds of containers containing pulses are being stuck up and waiting for clearance at Qasim International Containers Terminal (QICT), Karachi International Containers Terminal (KICT) and Pakistan International Containers Terminal (PICT), it is learnt here.
The importers were of the view that hundreds of their containers containing pulses were stuck up at all three terminals and not being cleared by the Customs authorities for last three days; which on one hand paying extra charges in share of demurrage and detention while on the other hand may also create shortage of pulses in city.
When contacted, the Customs authorities informed Customs Today that the documents of the consignments have not been completed, as Plant Protection Certificate (PPC) is mandatory for clearance of the pulses’ consignments adding that the Customs authorities are not yet received the required document.
Responding to a query, the Customs authorities further said that the process of clearance would be started as soon as the importers would produce PPC to the Customs authorities who are deputed in Examination area at all three containers.
