Hyderabad ASO seizes smuggled cigarettes from Shalimar Express train

HYDERABAD:  Hyderabad Customs Anti-Smuggling Organisation (ASO) seizes foreign origin cigarettes worth Rs 0.5 million.

Sources told Customs Today  that Collector Hyderabad Dr Ahmed Mujtaba Memon received information regarding the smuggling attempt. He formed an ASO team comprising Superintendent Sikander Akbar Phanwar, Deputy Superintendent Anwar Ahmed  Siddiqui and  Inspector Waqar Ahmed Baig.

The ASO team under the supervision of Additional Collector Umar Shafique raided Shalimar Express in Hyderabad Railway Station and seized smuggled foreign origin cigarette which also involved duty and taxes amounting to Rs 261,250. The ASO team made a seizure report and deposited the cigarette at Hyderabad State Warehouse.
