KARACHI: The Customs Collectorate Hyderabad Anti-Smuggling Organization (ASO) has seized 28,000 liters of smuggled Iranian diesel during a crackdown and arrested three persons.
Sources told Customs Today that Collector Hyderabad Agha Shahid Majeed received secret information about smuggled Iranian HSD. He summoned Additional Collector Umer Shafiq to use all available resources to foil the attempt. Additional collector formed a team comprising Inspector Mujib Baloch, Inspector Saeed Barohi and Inspector Asad.
Sources said that the ASO team established various check posts at main entry and exit points of the city and started checking of vehicles. The ASO team intercepted an oil tanker and recovered 28,000 liters of Iranian HSD. The Iranian HSD was being transported to delivery.
The ASO team asked the driver of the vehicle to produce legal documents regarding possession and transportation High Speed Diesel but the driver failed to show any relevant legal documents. After his failure ASO team seized the Iranian HSD and arrested all the three persons who were boarded on the oil tanker. ASO authorities after registering a case of smuggling against accused persons started interrogations.
