Hyderabad ASO seizes huge quantity of non-duty paid goods, vehicle during crackdown

HYDERABAD: The Anti-Smuggling Orgaisation (ASO) team has seized foreign origin 1210 packet of Indian Gutka  value at Rs 6,05.000 involving duty/taxes amounting to Rs,2,80,720 during a raid near City Gate Bus Stop.

Source told Customs Today that Additional Collector Umer Shafiq received credible information about some smuggling attempts. He immediately constituted a ASO team comprising Sikander Akbar Pahnwar, Inspector Waqar Ahmed Baig, Inspector Shakeel Khan, Inspector Mushtaq Ali Lakho, Inspector Waqar Sareo, Sepoyes Essa Chandio, Nenomal, Abid Ali, Attique Khokher and driver Omer Solngi  which took part in the operation.

The established various check posts at main entry and exit points of Hyderabad city and started checking of vehicles. During checking the team intercepted a vehicle and recovered huge quantity of Indian Gutka.

While during another crackdown ASO team intercepted New  Shakeel Asif Goods Transport Company and recovered  huge quantity of non duty paid cigarettes worth Rs 4,13,750 involving duty/taxes to the tune of Rs5,79.248/- which were brought into the country without the payment of duty taxes causing loss to the national exchequer.

Sources said that in another action the ASO impounded  one foreign origin  smuggled Toyota Land Cruiser   V8 bearing registration BF-9776  worth Rs 4 million involving  duty / taxes  amounting  to Rs.  79,40,000/-  whereas it also confiscated smuggled contraband items amounting to Rs. 2,88,652/-.

Sources said that ASO team which seized the above mentioned Toyota Land Cruiser and smuggled goods includes Deputy Superintendent Sikander Akbar Pahnwar, Inspector  Waqar Ahmad baig, Inspector Shakeel Khan,  Inspector  Nazim Ali, Inspector Mushtaq Alui  Lakho sepoyes  and  driver  were also taking part in anti-smuggling activities.
