Hyderabad ASO seizes non duty paid cigarettes worth Rs2m

HYDERABAD: The Customs Anti-Smuggling Organization (ASO) has seized non duty paid 18 cartons of Pine cigarettes along with Toyota Corolla vehicle worth Rs 2 million during action in Jacobabad Sukkur division .

Sources told Customs Today that Additional Collector Rahmatullah Vistro received credible information regarding smuggling of  non duty paid cigarettes through a vehicle.

After receiving the information the additional collector constituted a team under the supervision of Superintendent Shabbir Phalphuto which also included Inspector Rahib Abro,  sepoyes and driver who took part in operation. The team intercepted a vehicle Toyota Corolla bearing registration No  AMT-539  near check post  Jacobabad Sukkur division and recovered foreign origin Pine cigarettes also impounded vehicle being used for smuggling.

The ASO officials seized the non duty paid cigarettes  along with Toyota car under prevailing customs law.  After making  the  seizure report  the  ASO team  deposited  the  confiscated  smuggled  Pine cigarette  and  vehicle  Toyota Corolla car  in State Warehouse. Sources said after necessary procedure ASO will forward the same to Customs Adjudication for proceedings.

It is necessary to mention here that ASO authorities expedited their efforts to curb smuggling attempts in the region. The ASO team established more check posts on main entry and exit points of the Hyderabad city.

Meanwhile Collector Agha Shahid Majeed will attend a workshop in Brussels while Additional Collector Rehmatullha Vistro will look after the daily official affairs of the Collectorate . He workshop will be held from 7.12.2016 to 15. 12.2016. Sources said that customs officials of all over the world will attend this workshop.
