Hyderabad Customs Intelligence seizes electronics items worth Rs 7m

KARACHI: Hyderabad Customs Intelligence and Investigation Organisation (ASO) has seizes electronics items and arrested four persons during a successful raid.

Customs Collector Agha Shahid Majeed received information a huge quantity of non-duty paid electronics items were supplies to out of city. The collector sought the Deputy Collector Umer Shafeeq and told him about the received information. Consequently, Deputy Collector comprising a team and formed check-points at the exit point of the city. During the checking of vehicles the team intercepted a truck. During the search of the truck the team found 50 LEDs, 21 monitors, more than 80 dish antenna receivers and 300 smuggled irons. The team asked the driver about duty clearance documents but he remained failed. Therefore the team seized all electronics items and arrested four persons who were involved in smuggling. The Customs officials told Customs Today that the estimated value of seized items is more than Rs 7 million.

The Customs staff also impounded the truck which was used in smuggling. During interrogation of the accused it revealed the seized items were supplied from Hyderabad into Karachi.
