HYDERABAD: Customs Intelligence and Investigations, Field Information Unit (FIU) seized 30 pieces of foreign origin non-duty paid tyers Maxes brand. The market value of the impounded tyers is Rs 1,200,000 involving duty and taxes amounting to Rs 216,987/- during an action in Hyderabad city.
Sources told Customs Today that Collector Hyderabad Agha Shahid Majeed received information about some smuggling attempts. Soon after receiving the tip of he constituted a team comprising Deputy Superintendent Sikander Hayat Khanzada, Inspector Ahmed Hussain Junejo, Inspector Irfan Ghani, sepoys Aslam Chohan, Musrat Shah Imran Alimuddin, Noshad, Azam Ali Chandio , driver Janib Kurb and others participated in the operation. The Field Information Unit team established different check points at entry and exit points of the city and started checking of vehicles. The FIU team intercepted a vehicle near Hyderabad bypass and recovered 30 pieces of Maxes brand foreign origin tyers.
The team asked the driver to produce any legal documents regarding the legal possession and transportation of the imported tyers but the driver of the vehicle failed to show any documents on which customs impounded the tyers.
After making the seizer report the customs FIU team deposited the 30 pieces of seized Maxes brand tyers in Hyderabad State Warehouse.
The Customs Intelligence and Investigation team after registering a case of smuggling against accused persons started investigations.
