ICCI terms parliament ‘a source of confidence’ for business community

ISLAMABAD: A delegation of Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ICCI) led by its Vice President M Ashfaq Chatha called on Senator Syed Zafar Ali Shah, Mian Abdul Manan and Rana M. Afzal Khan, MNAs and apprized them of the issues being faced by the business community to highlight the same in the parliament for urgent redress.

Speaking at the occasion, Senator Syed Zafar Ali Shah said that Mian Abdul Manan, MNA has presented the bill of a new Rent Control Act in the National Assembly, which has been sent to the Standing Committee for consideration and hoped that soon Islamabad will have a new balanced rent law, which will take care of the interests of both landlords and tenants.

He said businessmen are playing important role in the economic development of the country and the government is determined to provide them maximum facilitation for promoting business activities with ease. He said private sector is the driver of economic growth and government is taking measures to support the private sector to become major partner in steering the economy out of current troubles.

Mian Abdul Manan, MNA said that the government was cognizant of the difficulties being faced by the tenants and landlords in Islamabad due to unavailability of rent control act and he has presented the bill of a balanced rent law for making it into a law, which will serve the interests of both parties.

Speaking at the occasion, M. Ashfaq Chatha, Vice President, Islamabad Chamber of Commerce & Industry thanked Senator Syed Zafar Ali Shah and Mian Abdul Manan & Rana Muhammad Afzal Khan MNAs for their supportive role towards the businessmen and added that their presence in parliament is a source of confidence for the whole business community of the country.

He said the current economic situation of the country demands that public and private sectors should join hands to pull the country out of stagnation and said that ICCI would fully support all policies of the government aimed at facilitating the private sector and improving the economy. He was hopeful that the enactment of rent bill into law would start a new era of positive relations between tenants and landlords and facilitate the better growth of business activities.
