ISLAMABAD: Deputy Collector Islamabad Dry Port (IDP) Saleha Zakir has said that our policy is to welcome traders and provide them comfortable environment so they can contribute to the national economy through providing duty & taxes against their imports.
She expressed these views during an exclusive interview with Customs Today. She said that most of the revenue heads come via automated systems. She said that increase in revenue is witnessed due to increase in tariff rates; however the major reason is new administrative measures in form of revised classification and valuations.
She further told that Islamabad Dry Port (IDP) earned huge revenue through auction of vehicles and goods. She added that recovery efforts also matter but most important thing is trade facilitation in terms of better environment and dedication.
Suleha Zakir said that at IDP, we welcome traders so the taxpayer and collector both can contribute together to boost national exchequer. She added that this has led to create a trust building environment in which both can build on better declaration, and enforcement efforts could be made possible.
Telling the details of revenue earned through efforts of Customs staff, she said that IDP earned Rs220.972 million through auction of vehicles during first seven months (July to January) of Fiscal Year 2018-19 while during month of January 2019, the IDP fetched Rs103.675 million through auction.
Deputy Collector IDP said that the IDP earned Rs180 million via Redemption fine while pursing the Section 81 of Customs Act, the IDP received Rs.34.823 million revenue through finalization of provisional assessment cases during seven months of FY18-19.
She notified that during month of January, the IDP received Rs26 million under head of customs duty (CD) against assigned revenue collection target. She added that during initial 07 months of FY18-19, the IDP received Rs2223.358 million under head of CD while fetched Rs.1870.530 million under head of sales tax (ST) as well as it received Rs379.490 million under head of federal excise duty (FED) whereas the IDP earned Rs781.675 million under head of withholding tax (WHT).
