IHC adjourns hearing of case filed against members of ATIR till July 4

ISLAMABAD: Justice Aamer Farooq of the Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Tuesday issued notices to parties in a case challenging appointments, postings and transfers of members of the Appellate Tribunal Inland Revenue (ATIR).

A single bench of the IHC also adjourned the hearing of the case till July 4. In this case, the court issued notices to ATIR’s judicial and accountant members, including Ambreen Aslam, Shahid Pervaiz, Qamar Ul Haq Bhatti, Abdul Qayyum Sheikh, Seema Imran, Aliya Latif Unar, Muhammad Riaz, Faheem ul Haq, Abdul Nasir, Sikandar Aslam, Pervaiz Alam, Raza Baqir, Shiraz Mirza, Rana Ahmed , M Waseem, Ikram Ullah Ghouri, and Masood Akhtar Shaheedi. The petitioner had challenged appointments of all these ATIR’s members through Advocate Nasim Sikandar.

The appellant has prayed the court to declare the notification of postings and transfers of individuals working as members of tribunal without having been appointed in accordance with relevant laws and the rules framed.

Petitioner submitted that around 16 members has not been appointed at the tribunal in accordance with the provisions of the Civil Servants Act, 1973, the Civil Servants (Appointment, Promotion and Transfer) Rules 1973, the Federal Public Service Commission Ordinance 1977 and the Government Servants (Application for Services and Posts) Rules.
