IHC bench to hear tax reference of Defence Housing Authority today

ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad High Court (IHC) will hear a tax reference of the Defence Housing Authority, seeking stoppage of recovery of the outstanding tax of Rs 1210,253,332, on Thursday (today). A single bench of the IHC comprising Justice Aamer Farooq will hear the case.

The appellant had challenged a recovery order of the Large Taxpayers’ Unit, which was issued on March 25, 2016. The LTU had ordered to pay outstanding tax of Rs 1,210,253,332 for the tax year 2013.

The order was issued under provisions of Income Tax Ordinance, 2001. Federal Board of Revenue (FBR), LTU’s chief commissioner, commissioner Inland Revenue, commissioner Inland Revenue (Appeals), assistant commissioner Inland Revenue and ATIR were made party in the case.
