IHC division bench will hear two tax references today

ISLAMABAD: A division bench of the Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Tuesday will hear two tax references filed against Customs Appellate Tribunal and Appellate Tribunal Inland Revenue (ATIR).

The bench comprising Justice Noorul Haq N. Qureshi and Justice Athar Minallah would hear the cases.

M/s Punjab Oil Mills had filed the federal excise duty case against ATIR. The appellant had challenged the ATIR decision through the petition stating that it had not given relief to the appellant against an imposition of tax by the LTU, Islamabad. Other case, a customs reference, was filed by Faisal Hayat who had made Customs Appellate Tribunal prime respondent. Beside the tribunal, customs departments officer were other respondent in the case.

The appellant had challenged tribunal’s decision for not setting aside the imposition of duty in head of paying short-duty against imported goods.
