Punjab Revenue Department yet to provide land record to FBR

SIALKOT: The Income Tax Department of the Federal Board of Revenue’s (FBR) is facing difficulties in taking action against the people who are purchasing properties by using black money as the Punjab Revenue Department could not provide a complete record of sale and purchase of properties to it, sources disclosed.

The sources said that the FBR demanded record from the Revenue Department under Income Tax Ordinance, 2001. They said  that the FBR issued a letter to the department to provide registration record of lands, houses, shopping centers, shops, plazas and agricultural lands, which were sold and bought during July 1, 2010 till March 25, 2016.

The income tax department had conveyed the message to Punjab government, Revenue Department member, all commissioners and district co-ordination officers under the directions of FBR.

It is also learnt here that Revenue Department is facing shortage of staff; therefore, sub-registrars of Revenue Department have intimated higher authorities about situation and shortage of staff.
