IHC postpones hearing of tax reference filed by M/s Central Power Purchasing Agency

ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Friday adjourned the hearing of a tax matter filed by Central Power Purchasing Agency Limited.

Justice Aamer Farooq heard the case. The Central Power Purchasing Agency Limited, in its petition, asked the court to restrict the Large Taxpayers Unit, Islamabad (LTU) from recovering Rs 2,342,512 from it under the head of outstanding tax amount.

The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR), officers of LTU including commissioner Inland Revenue, and commissioner Inland Revenue (Appeals) were made respondent in the case.

Central Power Purchasing Agency Limited prayed that the assessment order issued by the LTU officer was illegal, unlawful and without legal grounds. It also prayed the court to set aside the LTU notice and provide the appellant relief in this regard.
