IHC reserves decision in M/s Uch Power Vs IR tribunal’s case

ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad High Court (IHC) has reserved the decision in a case filed by the M/s Uch Power (Private) Limited against the decision of the Inland Revenue Appellate Tribunal.

A division bench of the IHC comprising Justice Noor ul Haq N Qureshi and Justice Athar Minallah heard the case.

The appellant had challenged the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) submission at the tribunal in which it had won the case in favour of taxing the electricity being consumed by the power generating companies.

At the tribunal, the FBR had won the case submitting that the electricity being consumed by the power companies should be included in sale-net, and subsequently sales tax should be charged on that consumption of electricity.

M/S Uch Power Private Limited had made IR commissioner a respondent in the case.
