IHC will hear couple of tax references filed against ATIR, FBR today

ISLAMABAD: A division bench of the Islamabad High Court (IHC) will hear a couple of tax references on Tuesday (today) involving Customs Appellate Tribunal and Federal Board of Revenue (FBR).

The IHC division bench comprising Justice Noor-Ul-Haq N Qureshi and Justice Athar Minallah will hear the references filed by M/s Bestway Cement Limited and M/s MOL Pakistan Oil and Gas Company.

M/s Bestway Cement Limited had filed the tax reference against Customs Appellate Tribunal. The appellant had challenged a decision announced by the tribunal before the IHC.

M/s Bestway Cement Limited had also nominated officers of Regional Tax Office in the petition among respondent.

M/s MOL Pakistan Oil and Gas Company had filed the tax reference against the Large Taxpayers Unit, Islamabad.

The appellant had submitted that the show cause notice issued to him in head of federal excise duty (FED) was illegal and was based on mala-fide intentions.

Federal Board of Revenue (FBR), officers of LTU including Commissioner Inland Revenue, and Commissioner Inland Revenue (Appeals) were made respondent in the case.
