IHC will hear five references filed against tax authorities, ATIR today

ISLAMABAD:  Two divisional benches of the Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Tuesday (today) will hear five tax references filed by different appellants against the tax collecting offices and the Appellate Tribunal Inland Revenue (ATIR).

A divisional bench of the IHC comprising Justice Shaukat Aziz Siddiqui and Justice Mohsin Akhtar Kayani would hear tax references filed against M/s Aftab Traders and Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP).

M/s Aftab Traders had challenged an ATIR decision and had made ATIR the main respondent along with officials of the Regional Tax Office (RTO), Islamabad.

Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan had submitted a petition against officers of RTO, Islamabad. The commission had named commissioner of income tax as main respondent.

Meanwhile, Justice Aamer Farooq and Justice Miangul Hassan Aurangzeb would hear three other tax reference challenging verdict announced by Customs Appellate Tribunal, Islamabad.

This reference was filed by M/s Shalimar Diplomatic Bonded Warehouse Islamabad. The company had submitted that Customs Appellate Tribunal had maintained department’s adjudication decision in ignorance of legal provisions. It had prayed to court to set aside decision announced by tribunal and de-seize the imported good which had been seized by the department.
