KARACHI: The Pakistan Customs through a letter has requested the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) to contact with the Federal Ministry of Commerce in order to resolve the matter pertaining to the clearance of pharmaceutical raw material.
One of the senior officers of MCC Appraisement-West informed Customs Today that the authorities concerns of Pakistan Customs have already requested the FBR to ask for Ministry of Commerce to intervene in the said matter.
Replying to a question, the senior officer of MCC Appraisement made it clear that the main issue in the entire matter has related with the interpretation of law, as it could not be possible that 76 Customs officials in the same time involved in mal-practicing and illegal clearance of pharmaceuticals.
“The Ministry of Commerce has to clear the things and asked the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) to clear the interpretation of law,” he asserted.
It is pertinent to mention here that the FIA has issued notices to 76 customs officials, who allegedly involved in illegal and unlawful clearance of consignments without getting permission from the officers of the Federal Drug Authority (FDA) which is mandatory.
