IMO seizes heroin booked from Islamabad to Canada

ISLAMABAD: The International Mail Office (IMO) Islamabad confiscated 150 grams of heroin from a parcel booked from Islamabad for Canada. The value of the seized heroin was assessed as Rs1.5million. The customs staff arrested the smuggler.

According to newly appointed Assistant Collector IMO Ali Asad, the IMO seized a registry parcel during the clearance of export registry parcels at the IMO Chaklala Rawalpindi.

The customs staff at the IMO found a suspicious parcel which was placed under examination that led to detection of 150 grams of heroin concealed in parcel. The case has been forwarded to Investigation and Prosecution Department.

Ali Asad informed Customs Today that the above said seizure of heroin was the seventh case confiscated by the IMO during the last seven months.
