Import of Indian mangoes through Wagah stops due to less demand

LAHORE: Import of mangoes from India has badly effected due to decrease in demand in local market, especially in Lahore.

Few importers of Pakistan have started importing Indian mangoes through Land Freight Unit (LFU) Wagah in view of the rising demand of mangoes in the local market, especially Punjab because of late arrival of local mangoes.

Sources told Customs Today that, Pakistan has imported mangoes from India because in few parts of India mangoes reached markets in the start of May. Few importers of Lahore placed orders to import mangoes to Pakistan but due to bad taste and higher rates their ideas have flopped. Only 20 to 25 trucks were reached Pakistan.

Pakistan customs has earned heavy amount of taxes from this import but Indian mangoes failed to get attraction in local market.
