Importers asked to respond to recent imposition of regulatory duty

KARACHI: President, Federation of Pakistan Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Zubair F. Tufail has asked the members of business community to urgently forward their suggestions about the recently introduced regulatory duty on 731 items, part of the country’s imports basket.

In a statement here on Tuesday, the FPCCI president mentioning that Ministry of Finance under SRO.1035 (I)/2017 issued on October 16 had levied regulatory duty on imports of the items included in the notification.

FPCCI chief through his statement sought response of the concerned businessmen with specific reference to problems and difficulties if any to be faced due to new import regulatory duties, particularly on raw material, imposed under the notified SRO.

FPCCI was said to have also setup a special cell to monitor the overall impact of the new duties on imports. Zubair F. Tufail assured the business community that FPCCI will submit a comprehensive analysis of the overall affects due to additional duties on imports and any adverse affects or problems faced by importers and manufacturers and hike in price for the consumers.
