KARACHI: Importers have expressed their satisfaction over the working of customs officials and the authorities concerned of terminal operator at Karachi International Containers Terminal (KICT).
The importers were of the view that a backlog of around 1000 imported containers had been stuck up at KICT for last several days and the traders were facing hardships, as they have to pay extra charges in terms of demurrage and detention charges due to delay in clearance of the containers.
The importers said that the customs authorities of Appraisement-West while sensing the gravity of the issue had played a vital role in streamlining the entire process at KICT and contacted the authorities concerned of the terminal operator.
The importers have expressed their gratitude towards the Appraisement-West Collector Dr Farid Iqbal Qureshi and other customs officers, as due to their efforts, the clearance process of the consignments is streamlined now.
The importers have also expressed their gratitude to the Customs Today, as it had become the voice of the said community and raised their issue before the authorities.
The importers were also of the view that the clearance process should also be streamline at Qasim International Containers’ Terminal (QICT), as the containers of bulk cargo were also stuck up over there.
