KARACHI: Importers are facing difficulties for the clearance of imported consignments at Qasim International Container Terminal (QICT) due to non-cooperative environment between officers and ground handling staff.
Talking to Customs Toady, Importer Muhammad Yousaf has said that importers are facing delay in the examination of imported containers by the customs authorities. On the other hand, surveyors and labourers are asking bribe for opening and layering the consignment for examination.
He added that after examination of consignment, importers have to pay again for putting the goods back into the containers. While after the completion of examination, the container handling staff does not update the containers and the importers have to bear a huge loss of money.
