Increase in token tax, registration fee for vehicles, motorcycles on the card

KARACHI: The government is seriously considering a proposal to enhance token tax for vehicles during coming fiscal year.

Syed Zahid Ali Shah SO Tax Excise and Taxation Depatment told Customs Today that the department is expecting an increase of 60 to 70 percent in token tax  for vehicles and motorcycles. He said that the government is taking this step to increase its revenue collection sources.

He said a consultation meeting will be held in which final decisions will take in this regard.  He was hopeful that increase of Rs 550 in registration fee of motorcycles in the coming budget will get approval. He further said that we are trying our best to collect tax from defaulters and are taking every possible measure in this regard. He said we are getting positive output from our efforts.

Zahid Ali Shah said that we are working on different proposals to increase our revenue target for this purpose government is considering to increase Life Time Tax and one the same time if a person will deposit tax timely he or she will get facilities in return.
