NEW DELHI: Idea Cellular ’s consolidated March quarter net profit rose 22.8 percent to Rs 942 crore, compared to the December quarter. Consolidated quarterly revenues rose 5.1 percent to Rs 8422.5 crore sequentially.
The numbers beat a CNBC-TV18 poll estimates of Rs 840 crore and Rs 8396 crore respectively. “Due to the changes in the TRAI Interconnect (IUC) regulations effective March 01, 2015, the results for this quarter and financial year 2014-15 are not comparable to earlier quarters & financial years,” the company said in its release, adding, “the gross revenue both for the quarter Q4FY15 and for FY15 is negatively impacted by around Rs 105 crore, though the impact on EBITDA is minimal.”
Consolidated operating profit (EBITDA) rose 11.3 percent sequentially to Rs 3064.5 crore, and the operating profit margin of 36.4 percent was ahead of the poll estimate of 34.5 percent. Standalone quarterly net profit stood at Rs 837 crore, up 66 percent year-on-year, and up 24 percent sequentially. Standalone revenue rose 22 percent year-on-year to Rs 8541 crore. Average revenue per user for the March quarter was flat sequentially at Rs 179, and average revenue per minute declined to 44.80 paise, compared to 46.30 paise. Average voice revenue per minute too declined to 33.90 paise, from 35.60 paise in the preceding quarter.
