It was also observed that many of the cases, cleared through green or yellow channels and material documents like packing lists, detailed invoices and relevant catalogues etc, were not scanned at the time of filing of goods declarations (GDs), while vague description and quantities of such equipments were also declared to clear the consignments through mis-declaration.

Through the latest intelligence alert, all collectors/field formations are advised to remain vigilant and closely monitor the clearance of consignments of telecom equipment in particular with a view to ensuring that submission of material documents are scanned at the time of filing of the GDs for proper assessment and classification to safeguard the government’s legitimate revenue.

Sources said that following the issuance of the ‘intelligence alert’, the collectorates and the field formations have reviewed their strategy to ensure proper and meaningful checking.
