Int’l Customs Day observed: Rs500m smuggled, contraband goods destroyed

LAHORE: International Customs Day, 2022 under the theme ” “Scaling up Customs Digital Transformation by Embracing a Data Culture and Building a Data Ecosystem,” was observed at the Wagha Border on Wednesday.

On the occasion, Appraisement Chief Collectors of Customs Faiz Ahmad Chadhar said that the Data Ecosystem and degitalisation has become immensely important for the Customs as due the very innovation overall revenue contribution by the Customs in total revenue has increased by 58 percent .

“One window operation is also operational and the import and export containers are being cleared in minutes instead of hours long procedures due to the very degitilisation of the customs operations.

“Our 72 federal and provincial government department have been integrated with the one window system” he said, adding that that Pakistan Customs has a bright future.

Enforcement and Compliance Chief collector Zulfiqar Chaudhary said that the theme of the Internation Customs’ Day “Scaling up Customs Digital Transformation by Embracing a Data Culture and Building a Data Ecosystem, ”is aptly matching with the degitalised age of our our time.  Data Echo Systems is a ravolutionery development in Customs’ operations simplifying the import and export procedures significantly. The Pakistan Customs have been degitaliing the formation for the last 20 years.

He appreciated the officers and officials for their hectic efforts in making the Customs Service a pride of the nation.

Collector Customs Basit Maqsood Abbasi greeting the officers and officials’ upon their outstanding performance said that in uniforms perhaps the customs officers are not good on saluting but how to tackle  the smugglers and protect the economic borders of the country is Pakistan Customs’ unique feature.

DG Rangers Major General Syed Asif Hussain said Customs is a leading Pakistan agency that is operatig through one window operation minimizing the trade hazardous and impediments facilitating the economic growth and development of the country.

Chief Collector Customs Zulfiqar Ali Chaudhar awarded shields

Basit Maqsood Abbasi, Arshad Malik, Jawad Raza, Attiqur Rehman, Aslam Hayat Piracha, Amir Niazi wing commander and others for their outstanding.

Superintendents, inspectors, UDCs LDCs, constables including Ghafar, M Akram, Safdar Ali, Zafar Ali Shah, Afaq Shah, Malik Numan Afzal, Haroon Israr, Amir Saeed, Ali Raza, Awais Idrees, Saqib Freed, Muhammad Shabbir, Misal Khan, Rizwan Liaqat, Malik Muhammad Shahbaz, M Rizwan, Fakhar Zaman, Muhammad Saeed, Husbain Ali, Saeed Ahmad and others were awarded certificates and shields.

Multan Collector Imran Ahmad Chaudhary also distributed certificates among the best performers including inspector Ghulam Abbas, Ahmad Yard Hiraj, Tahir Mehmood, Saeed Ahmad, Ali Junaid Akbar, Asghar Ali, Sarfraz Shad, Malik Idress, Nasir Khan, Ijaz Cheema, Haris Bukhtiar Niaz, Sajad Ahmad Jatooi, Umer Mehmood, Irfan Ali, Zahid Waheed, Muhammad Ramzan, ARSLAN Shaqufta, Muhammad Ilyas, Muhammad Sharif, Attiqur Rehman and others.
