IR Intelligence to probe tax evasion case against Fatima Fertilizer

MULTAN: The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) Inland Revenue (IR) Intelligence and Investigation’s special team reached Multan to probe the Rs 1.65 billion tax evasion case against Fatima Fertilizer Limited.

The Regional Tax Office (RTO) had detected tax evasion of Rs 1.65 billion allegedly by Fatima Fertilizer Limited when it raided the company and seized the record for scrutiny. The said company had concealed its huge stocks of fertilizer from tax authorities in order to evade taxes.

It may mention here that the fertilizer company has paid Rs 1.43 billion to Multan RTO in three installments. The owners of company had approached the FBR to re-investigate the matter stating that they are regular taxpayers.

Therefore, a special team has been sent to Multan, which will examine all recovered documents of the Fatima Fertilizers to form their scrutiny report.
