LAHORE: Iranian Consul General Mehran Movahedfar and Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI) President Faheem Ur Rehman Saigol jointly inaugurated the Wall of Iqbal and an Iqbal Corner established by LCCI here at Chamber’s building on Tuesday.
The LCCI took this initiative to promote the thoughts and message of Poet of the East Allama Muhammad Iqbal among the younger generation.
LCCI Senior Vice President Tanveer Ahmad Sheikh, Vice President khurram Lodhi, former LCCI Presidents Mian Anjum Nisar and Muhammad Ali Mian, former SVP Khalid Usman, former VP Adnan Khalid Butt, Convener Tahir Anjum and others attended the inauguration ceremony.
The Wall of Iqbal has been established alongside the main entrance of the Lahore Chamber, while the Iqbal Corner has been set up in the LCCI main library. The Wall of Iqbal highlights Allama Iqbal’s message, thoughts and philosophy, while the Iqbal Corner has been designed in line with modern architectural requirements. The purpose of these initiatives is to introduce businesspeople, young people and students visiting the Lahore Chamber to the philosophy of Allama Iqbal and promote his message.
Iranian Consul General Mehran Movahedfar said that Allama Iqbal was a great thinker and poet whose message continues to provide guidance to the younger generation. He said that Iqbal’s message was not limited to Pakistan but held significance for the entire region. He said that Allama Iqbal gave the message of selfhood, knowledge, unity and awakening, and his thoughts continue to provide guidance to societies.
Mehran Movahedfar termed the establishment of the Wall of Iqbal and Iqbal Corner at the Lahore Chamber a valuable effort to highlight Allama Iqbal’s message, saying that such initiatives could play an important role in connecting the younger generation with Iqbal’s thoughts.
Speaking on the occasion, LCCI President Faheem Ur Rehman Saigol said that Allama Iqbal gave the younger generation the message of selfhood, knowledge, action and hard work, which continues to provide guidance for the development of society and the country. He said that in the present era, young people need confidence in their abilities, pursuit of knowledge and practical efforts, and Iqbal’s philosophy provides strong guidance in this regard.
Saigol said that establishing the Iqbal Corner at the Lahore Chamber was a practical effort to take Iqbal’s philosophy to the younger generation. He said that the Wall of Iqbal and Iqbal Corner would not only highlight Allama Iqbal’s personality and philosophy but also serve as a means of introducing his message to people visiting the Lahore Chamber.
