TEHRAN: Following the implementation of Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), Iranian oil tankers resumed shipping to European ports, announced the managing director of Ports and Maritime Organization (PMO). Mohammad Saeednejad said on Friday that the National Iranian Tanker Company has one of the largest fleets in the world to carry crude oil cargos, Shana reported.
Currently, with no restriction, all oil consignments of the country are transported to their destinations including European ports with Iranian tankers, the official added. Before the implementation of JCPOA, Iran was facing barriers in international markets, said Saeednejad adding that Iranian oil tankers and ships restarted their international activities after lifting of sanctions.
Iran finalized the classification of its fleet to cooperate with Protection and Indemnity (P&I) insurance, he expressed. The country has doubled its oil exports following the lifting of sanctions, said the official stating that by joining 24 conventions, now, Iranian oil tankers as well as ships have no problem to their activities. The PMO has planned to increase shipping activities by supporting the industry to work in international arena.
