Irrigation trade unions call off strike after assurance

HYDERABAD: The Sindh Irrigation Trade Unions Federation has called off the strike following assurance from Commissioner Hyderabad Qazi Shahid Pervez and MNA Kamal Khan Chang that all genuine demands of the federation would be resolved amicably.

The decision of calling off the strike has been made in the meeting with the representatives of the federation here at Shahbaz Hall, which convened on the directive of Sindh CM. The Commissioner assured that Sindh Irrigation Secretary and other quarters would be approached for granting of time scale promotions to irrigation employees, appointment of employees’ children under son quota, regularization of contract employees of LBOD and RBOD projects.

He called upon them to avoid strike in order to save the agriculture fields of growers which could be destroyed because of suspension of water for cultivation. He assured full support to federation in addressing of their genuine demands. After assurance from Commissioner Hyderabad and MNA Kamal Khan Chang, the office bearers of Irrigation Trade Unions Federation Sindh announced calling off the strike.
