KARACHI: A two-member committee comprising Additional Collector (ADC) Nayyar Shafiq and Assistant Director Asif Abro has still not reached any conclusion in terms of inquiring the case of SPS Javed Mughal, who was suspended by Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) in his alleged involvement in unfair means.

According to details, the FBR suspended two SPs namely Najam Hameed and Javed Mughal and off-duty one SPS namely Zarar Bin Azmat in September for their alleged involvement in illegal means.

Subsequently, the FBR higher authorities constituted a two-member committee comprising ADC Nayyar Shafiq and Assistant Director Asif Abro of IRS to investigate the matter and submit their findings over the issue. However; after passage of almost three months, the Committee has failed to produce any development in this regard.

The sources informed Customs Today that Asif Abro was on leave and resumed the office few days ago and that was major reason behind delay.

The sources further informed this scribe that the senior Committee Member Nayyar Shafiq contacted Asif Abro and asked him to continue inquiry into the case.

When contacted, Nayyar Shafiq said that the Committee will soon complete its inquiry and submit its findings to the FBR authorities concerned.

It is pertinent to mention here that  Najam Hameed has moved Sindh High Court against the FBR directives and the Court had overturned his suspension order and asked the SPS to resume his duty. However, the FBR authorities concerned had transferred Najam Hameed to Multan after he resumed his duty.

Afterwards, the committee conducted the inquiry against SPS Javed Mughal and other SPS Zarar Bin Azmat.
