Islamabad car cell impounds smuggled vehicle valued Rs1.4m

ISLAMABAD: Customs car cell impounded a Non-Duty-Paid (NDP) Axio Toyota Corolla vehicle worth Rs1.4million on Rawal Road.

According to Rana Shakeel, Superintend Car Cell, that on a tip-off shared by Collector Model Customs Collectorate Islamabad Dr. Arslan that an NDP is roaming in the Rawalpindi with tampered status.

The cell formed a squad which intercepted the Axio Toyota Corolla with a fake number plate. The cell asked the possessor to show any documentary proof but he was unable to prove anything legal.
The cell impounded the vehicle under the Customs Laws of 1969 and brought it to the State Ware House where they made a seizure report and forwarded the case to the investigation and prosecution (I&P) department for further action.

Superintend told CT that the car cell impounded four NDP vehicles valued Rs5.36million during May of Financial Year 2016-17.
