Islamabad Customs seizes 160 smuggled fans worth Rs 6m

ISLAMABAD: On special instructions of the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR), the Islamabad Customs has seized 160 solar fans along with offending vehicle No RIS 12-354 worth Rs 660,000.

Sources told Customs Today that the Anti smuggling mobile impounded the offending vehicle after chasing it. After impounding the vehicle, the anti smuggling squad seized the smuggled goods worth Rs 6 million.

Deputy Collector Shahid Jan said that working capacity of the mobile squad is satisfactory and its efforts to curb smuggling are appreciateable.

He said that anti smuggling squad had made many smugglers in last two month after rejoining  the DC Shahid Jan at MCC Islamabad, the squad made a big seizer last month when they seized two 22 wheeler trailers with full of smuggled goods from Chakwal under worth of above Rs20 million.

Collector of MCC Dr. Arslan said that anti smuggling campaign is going above the expectation of board and will continue until further orders by the FBR for next strategy regarding how prolong it will be.

Collector said that under the umbrella of anti smuggling campaign Collectorate have nearer to achieve its target of fiscal financial year 2016-17, he said that we are fully supporting to anti smuggling squad for field work and tried to provider them best facilities to make their efforts more effective.

The sources of MCC said that offending Suzuki Ravi Reg No RIS 12-354 along with smuggled solar units have been seized under the Custom’s anti smuggling act and FIR have been registered against the evader.
