Islamabad Dry Port collected Rs 348m in July

ISLAMABAD: With special instruction of the FBR, the Islamabad Dry Port collected different taxes amounting to Rs 348.68 million in July, the first month of the financial year 2016-17.

Assistant collector Islamabad Dry Port Imanat Ali Khan told Customs Today that the overall value of taxes was high as compared to the same period during the previous financial year.

Imanat Ali Khan said that in month of July FY 2016-17 total containers passed through dry port were 202 in numbers and the containers passed in same period in last financial year 2015-16 were 225 in numbers.

He said that dry port collected import value in month of July 2016-17 under value of Rs 837.659 million and in same period of FY 2015-16 the dry port’s collection import value was Rs622.796 million.

Imanat said that during July 2016-17 dry port collected Rs158.624 million in shape of custom duty and in same period in FY 2015-16 the dry port collected custom duty under value of Rs98.428 million.

He said that during financial year July 2016-17 the dry port collected total duty taxes under value of Rs348.868 million and the collection of all duty taxes in month of July 2015-16 was Rs 243.697 million.

Assistant Collector said that still the collectorate is waiting for revenue target of financial year 2016-17, he is hopeful to meet the set target by FBR as they surplus the set target in last financial year 2015-16.

He said that last week there was a meeting with Collector at his office where Collector gave special instructions to make soften attitude with the clearing agents as for as importers and exporters.
