JAMAICA: The Jamaica Customs Agency (JCA) and the United Kingdom’s (UK) Border Force yesterday signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) which will see both organisations collaborating on cross-border initiatives to include combating transnational crime and cross-border illicit trading activities.
According to a statement from the agency, the collaboration between Jamaica and the United Kingdom will allow both countries to address major common threats at their respective seaports and airports, such as the movement of illegal drugs, weapons, ammunition, cash or illicit goods. The MOU will primarily enable the JCA and UK Border Force to engage in information sharing and joint activities in relation to security risks. Additionally, UK Border Force will provide technical assistance and training to officers of the JCA.
