Japan stocks lower at end of trade, Nikkei 225 declines 2.10%

TOKYO: Japan stocks were lower after the close on Monday, as losses in the Shipbuilding, Warehousing and Marine Transport sectors led shares lower.

At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 declined 2.10%.

The best performers of the session on the Nikkei 225 were Nitto Denko Co (T:6988), which rose 5.44% or 426.0 points to trade at 8250.0 at the close. Meanwhile, Tokuyama Corp. (T:4043) added 4.90% or 12.0 points to end at 257.0 and Nippon Electric Glass Co., Ltd. (T:5214) was up 2.51% or 15.0 points to 612.0 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Yahoo Japan Corp. (T:4689), which fell 9.32% or 48.0 points to trade at 467.0 at the close. NTN Corp. (T:6472) declined 9.06% or 55.0 points to end at 552.0 and Kawasaki Kisen Kaisha, Ltd. (T:9107) was down 8.79% or 24.0 points to 249.0.

Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Tokyo Stock Exchange by 1526 to 344.

Shares in Kawasaki Kisen Kaisha, Ltd. (T:9107) fell to 52-week lows; falling 8.79% or 24.0 to 249.0.

The Nikkei Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was up 2.30% to 23.98.

Crude oil for December delivery was down 0.43% or 0.20 to $46.39 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in December rose 0.29% or 0.14 to hit $49.60 a barrel, while the December Gold contract rose 0.02% or 0.20 to trade at $1141.60 a troy ounce.

USD/JPY was down 0.17% to 120.42, while EUR/JPY rose 0.07% to 132.79.

The US Dollar Index was down 0.14% at 96.85.
