Japan stocks lower at end of trade, Nikkei 225 plunges 0.13%

TOKYO: Japan stocks were lower after the close on Friday, as losses in the Insurance, Financial Services and Shipbuilding sectors led shares lower.

At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 fell 0.13%.

The best performers of the session on the Nikkei 225 were Casio Computer Co., Ltd. (TOKYO:6952), which rose 3.08% or 72.0 points to trade at 2409.0 at the close. Meanwhile, ANA Holdings Inc. (TOKYO:9202) added 3.03% or 9.9 points to end at 336.7 and Keisei Electric Railway Co., Ltd. (TOKYO:9009) was up 2.91% or 41.0 points to 1451.0 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Sojitz Corp. (TOKYO:2768), which fell 3.51% or 11.0 points to trade at 302.0 at the close. Unitika, Ltd. (TOKYO:3103) declined 3.23% or 2.0 points to end at 60.0 and Dentsu Inc. (TOKYO:4324) was down 2.98% or 190.0 points to 6180.0.

Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Tokyo Stock Exchange by 996 to 886 and 1 ended unchanged.

The Nikkei Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was up 0.71% to 18.52.

Crude oil for July delivery was down 0.63% or 0.36 to $57.63 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in July fell 0.30% or 0.18 to hit $61.84 a barrel, while the August Gold contract rose 0.15% or 1.80 to trade at $1177.00 a troy ounce.

USD/JPY was up 0.12% to 124.52, while EUR/JPY rose 0.17% to 139.99.
