Jhang ASO impounds non duty paid Toyota Corolla worth Rs1.4m

FAISALABAD: The Customs Anti-Smuggling Organisation  (ASO) has confiscated a smuggled Toyota Corolla car bearing registration no: MLM-5665 model 2007 worth Rs 1.4 million involving duty and taxes worth Rs7.5 million during routine checking.

Sources told Customs Today that Deputy Collector Aneeqa Afzal received credible information about non-duty paid vehicles which are plying on roads. She immediately constituted a team comprising Superintendent Tanveer Raza Naqvi, Inspector Munir Ahmad Asghar, Sepoy Mehdi Naqvi and Sepoy Farhan Frank.

The ASO team intercepted the vehicle near Bhakkar Road Jhang and asked the owner of the vehicle who was identified as Javed Iqbal to produce legal documents regarding possession of the vehicle but he failed to produce any relevant documents. ASO team seized the vehicle and forwarded the case to customs adjudication for further action.
