Jordanian-Kazakh committee holds meeting in Astana

AMMAN: Meetings of the 4th session of the Joint Jordanian-Kazakh Committee started in the Kazakh capital Astana on Wednesday co-chaired by Secretary General of the Ministry of Industry, Trade and Supply Yousef Al Shamali and the Kazakh Deputy Agriculture Minister Yermek Kosherbayev.

Al Shamali said during the opening session, that relations between Jordan and Kazakhstan have steadily developed over the past 10 years thanks to the vision of the two countries’ leaderships and their keenness to boost bilateral ties, mainly in the economic field. He said the visits of His Majesty King Abdullah II to Kazakhstan paved the way for developing bilateral ties in all fields, highlighting the importance of the Kazakh president’s visit to Jordan next month.

The secretary general stressed the need to forge closer economic ties between the two countries through increasing trade exchange that does not exceed $600 million annually. The Kazakh deputy agriculture minister said the joint committee meetings gains special importance as they precede the visit of the Kazakh president.

The committee, he said, will discuss a number of important issues that will further enhance cooperation in the fields of industry, trade, education and agriculture. The ministerial committee will hold meetings tomorrow co-chaired by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Industry, Trade and Supply Jawad Anani and The Kazakh deputy agriculture minister.
