KARACHI: While referring to Prime Minister’s directions given to the concerned Ministry in respect of the Amnesty Scheme that the beneficiaries should not be harassed, President Karachi Chamber of Commerce & Industry Junaid Esmail Makda said that the business community warmly welcomes these directives and looks forward to quick implementation of the same as per directives given by the prime minster.

“Therefore the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) should be advised to immediately issue relevant notification about acceptance of stranded cases of those individuals who availed the Amnesty Scheme but their cases were not processed due to some IT-related glitches which are still kept as time-barred cases”, he added in a statement issued.

President KCCI stated that there were many such cases in which individuals paid 5 percent tax by 31st July 2018 but their cases in FBR’s portal were not processed due to some IT issues therefore, the government should be lenient with all such individuals and accept their cases under Amnesty scheme as they submitted their taxes on time.

“As the last date for filing of Income Tax Returns is December 15, 2018, the FBR should immediately issue the requested notification of treating those individuals under Amnesty Scheme who paid their taxes before 31st July 2018 so that they could timely submit their returns”, he added.
