Karachi Customs Adjudication-1 recovers Rs1.23m of tax evasion from M/s Furgan Int’l

KARACHI: The Collector Customs Adjudication-1 has received 1.23million against tax evasion from M/s Furqan International.

Source said the adjudication-1 issued notice to M/s Furqan International before 15 days.

Today Collector Customs Adjudication-1 sent a show-cause notice to M/s Jo Jo Textile for allegedly causing the national exchequer a loss of Rs2.33m by way of mis-declaration of classification.

According to sources, M/s Jo Jo Textile imported a consignment of hosiery raw material cleared by mis-declaring the classification of the imported goods under Pakistan Custom Tariff (PCT) from Pakistan International Container Terminal through their clearing agent named M/s Wasim Shipping by availing undue/inadmissible benefit/exemption of Sales Tax vide S. No. 34.

It is pertinent to mention here that M/s Jo Jo Textile itself has imported identical/same import under correct PCT heading 2266.9500. Apart from it, all other importers of raw material have either been declared by the importers or assessed by the collectorates.

Accordingly, an audit observation was issued to the said importer. The importer was requested to submit the reply by October 4, 2017. Instead the importers vide their letter requested for the extension of seven days in submitting the reply.
