Karachi Enforcement recovers smuggled goods worth Rs100m in different raids

KARACHI: Collectorate of Customs Enforcement has seized huge quantity of smuggled goods. The market value of seized goods is Rs100 million in international market.

Sources told Customs Today that different raids were carried out on the instructions of Chief Collector Yaqoob Mako, Collector Enforcement Basit Abbasi and Additional Collector Aman ullah Tareen. Assistant Collector Aman Sadiq and Superintendent Azhar Malik.

Sources told that customs anti-smuggling squad raided a godown located in Liaqatabad, and recovered 8.5 metric tons of imported fabric and curtain cloth. The recovered goods were safely escorted in three Mazda trucks to SWH for further legal proceedings. The market value of the seized goods is Rs57 million.

In another operation, the anti-smuggling intercepted two non-duty paid vehicles (a Toyota Surf and a Honda Civic), a tanker carrying 25,000 liters of Iranian diesel and a Mazda truck carrying 1,000 kilograms of betel nuts from different locations in Karachi. The total value of the seizure is around Rs25 million.

The anti-smuggling squad also raided a POL dumping point in Korangi and recovered Iranian diesel which was concealed in a dumper truck and equipment used for the disposal and distribution. The total value of the seizure is around Rs20 million.

The Customs Enforcement Karachi has registered cases against the smugglers and initiated further investigations. The press release stated that the Customs Enforcement Karachi is committed to curb the menace of smuggling and protect the national economy.
