KARACHI: President of the Karachi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) Iftikhar Ahmed Vohra has expressed deep grief and sorrow on colossal loss of lives caused by a 7.8 magnitude devastating earthquake in Nepal.
In a statement issued, President KCCI said that it was the duty of everyone to help the affected people in Nepal and other areas.
Iftikhar Vohra further appealed the international community, particularly the governments and people of all neighboring countries to share the grief of Nepal and come out to help the devastated nation and its people.
“We all must wholeheartedly help Nepal in this hour of grief and need”, he added.
He noted that thousands of people lost their lives whereas millions of people across Nepal have become homeless which requires urgent rescue, relief and rehabilitation measures to mitigate the sufferings of the people of Nepal.
Appreciating the quick response of Pakistani government, he said that the government of Pakistan has done a fine job by immediately dispatching relief goods and medical teams to Nepal. “However, there is a need to closely monitor the progress of relief activities in Nepal and if needed, more relief consignments must be sent to Nepal in order to exhibit solidarity with Nepalese people in distress”, he added.
President KCCI prayed for the wellbeing of the people of Nepal affected by the natural disaster as well as their recovery from the trauma and pain.
Iftikhar Vohra also expressed sympathies with bereaved families who lost their dear ones in a storm in Peshawar on Sunday.
Iftikhar Vohra was of the view that natural calamities have devastated our brothers and sisters in Nepal and in Peshawar. Thus it is our duty to make every effort to help these people.
