KARACHI: The leadership of Businessmen Group (BMG) and officer bearers of the Karachi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI), while expressing deep grief and sorrow on sad demise of Abdul Sattar Edhi, Chairman Edhi Foundation, said that the entire nation has lost a great and most humble legend who will always be remembered for his lifelong dedicated efforts and never-ending quest to serve the humanity.
In a joint condolence statement, the chairman of the Businessmen Group and ex president KCCI Siraj Kassam Teli, vice chairmen BMG and former presidents KCCI Tahir Khaliq, Zubair Motiwala, Haroon Farooki and Anjum Nisar, president KCCI Younus Muhammad Bashir, senior vice president KCCI Zia Ahmed Khan, vice president KCCI Muhammad Naeem Sharif and KCCI managing committee members stated that the entire business and industrial community of Karachi was totally grieved and stunned after hearing the sad demise of Abdul Sattar Edhi who was well-known not only in Pakistan but all over the world for devoted services to the people in distress.
Terming the tragic incident as ‘national tragedy’, they recalled that late Abdul Sattar Edhi started serving the humanity soon after Pakistan came to existence by setting up the Edhi Foundation in 1951 which has the honor of operating the largest ambulance service in Pakistan and is also providing numerous humanitarian services including maternity wards, morgues, orphanages, shelters and homes for the elderly – all aimed at helping those who cannot help themselves.
They said that late Abdul Sattar Edhi was ‘humanitarian of the century and a national hero’ who created a charitable empire out of nothing which saved hundreds of thousands of lives.
Extending heartfelt condolences on behalf of the entire business and industrial community of Karachi, BMG leadership and KCCI office bearers prayed that may Almighty Allah places the departed soul in heaven and grants fortitude to the members of the bereaved family and millions of Pakistanis to bear this irreparable loss.
