Khushab Customs Intelligence seizes smuggled items worth Rs 1.4m

FAISALABAD: The Field Investigation Unit (FIU) the Customs Intelligence and Investigation in Khushab has seized non-duty paid LED smart TVs and leather shoes worth Rs 1.47 million involving duty/taxes amounting to Rs 549,994.

Following the instructions of Additional Director Azmat Tahira, a team of Khushab FIU took action against the smugglers and intercepted a Mazda mini truck bearing Registration No LWN-2991 near Sial Mor, District Sargodha

The officials recovered LED TVs and artificial leather shoes from the truck and asked the driver named Zafar Iqbal to show documents regarding legal import of the items on which he produced a receipt booked by M/s A to Z Cargo Lahore. But, he could not produce any document regarding legal import of the item.

Therefore, the officials impounded the truck along with loaded items under the customs laws and registered a case.

The Customs Intelligence team comprising Deputy Director Muhammad Riaz Hussain, Intelligence Officer Choudhary Saeed Hayat, Asghar Mehdi Naqvi, Driver Ashiq Hussain, and Sepoy Muhammad Musaddiq participated in the raids.
