Khushab FIU impounds huge quantity of non duty paid goods

FAISALABAD: The Customs Intelligence and Investigations Field Investigation Unit (FIU) Khushab confiscated miscellaneous fancy ladies brand items worth Rs3,22,85,575 involving customs duty of Rs1,54,97,076 and also impounded Mazda mini truck.

Sources told Customs Today, that Superintendent Zahid Raza Bukhari received information about some smuggling attempts. He immediately constituted a raiding party comprising Muhammad Tahir Iqbal, Muhammad Ramzan, Ansar Saleemi.

The FIU team of Khushab intercepted a Mazda Mini truck bearing registration no: 16-640 near Sial More district Sargodha and seized the smuggled items ladies dopatta, ladies dyed suiting cloth in different colour (90 kilograms), embroidery fancy sari with blouse (1006-kilograms), ladies frok, embroidery ladies shawls (74 kilograms), Sindoor Kanvas brand (42 kilograms), fancy Lahenga and self printed ladies suits (314 kilograms) made in India.

The FIU team asked accused persons who was identified as Abdul Mannan son of Muhammad Irfan to produce legal documents regarding possession of above said items. On the demand he showed a bilty no. 179 dated 18-01-2017 issued by Imperial Goods Forwarding Agency Islamabad sender Manzoor ahmed and Consignee is Not mention. However, he failed to provide the same.

After their failure FIU team seized the item and registered a case of smuggling against the owner of the goods.
