Customs Court issues non-bailable warrants against owner of non-duty paid vehicle

KARACHI: Customs Court Judge Syed Faiz Rasool Rashdi has issued non-bailable warrants against Shah Muhammad Khan Bazai son of Ghulam Muhammad Bazai who was booked in a case of non-duty paid Toyota Land Cruiser Cygnus V8 Jeep Model 2003 and evasion of duty and taxes to the tune of Rs 11,127,507.

The court also directed the investigation officer to arrest him and produce him before the court on the next date of hearing.

Earlier, investigation officer Aijaz Ali Khoso had submitted interim challan against the accused persons namely Manthar Ali, Mazhar Ali Magasi and Shah Muhammad Khan Bazai.

According to the interim challan, on a credible information, officials of the tax department intercepted the tampered/smuggled/ non-duty paid Toyota Land Cruiser Cygnus V8 jeep registration no BF-1318 model 2003 valuing to Rs4,203,250 which was parked at Zam Zama Street no 4 DHA, Phase V, Karachi.

The investigation officer informed the court that accused Manthar Ali and Mazhar Ali Magasi are on bail, however, the third suspect Shah Muhammad Khan Bazai is still absconder and the Customs Department is trying to arrest him.

After the hearing, the court accepted interim challan and issued non-bailable warrants against absconding accused for next date of hearing.

Case was registered against the above named accused persons in violation of section 2 (s) and 178 of Customs Act, 1969 punishable under clauses (8) & (89) of section 156 (i) ibid.
