KHUSHAB: The Field Investigation Unit (FIU) of the Customs Intelligence and Investigation has seized a non duty paid foreign origin ground nut in shell of different brand 21945 kilogram packed in polypropylene bags worth Rs 22,00,000 involving customs duty and taxes Rs 7,66,304.
Sources told to Customs Today, that Director Zulifqar Younas received information about some non customs paid consignment was brought into country without paying duty taxes. He constituted a team comprising Superintendent Muhammad Tahir, Intelligence Officer Mansoor Nasir driver Tajamul Haq (havaldar) Muhammad Sajjad and Khalil Ahmed (sepoys).
The FIU team intercepted a trailer no: TLT-161 near Mianwali Toll Plaza M.M Road Mianwali and asked the driver to produce legal documents regarding possession of items but he failed to provide any relevant documents. FIU team seized the ground nut and forwarded the case to customs adjudication for legal process.
