FAISALABAD: The Customs Field Intelligence Unit (FIU) Khushab has seized huge quantity of non duty paid Iranian origin ball bearing 792 numbers worth Rs5,54,000 involving duty and taxes to the tune of Rs3,58,000 during a successful raid.
Sources told Customs Today, that FIU team intercepted a Mazda truck bearing registration no: MNI-825 near Bypass Chowk Sargodha. The FIU team checked the vehicle and recovered 22 cartons of Iranian origin dates while power brand ball bearing were tactfully hidden in these packets.
The team asked the owner namely as Muhammad Nazim to show documents regarding legal import of the items. He provided a different bilty issued by M/s Tayyab Goods Agency showing clearance of different items. There was no arrangement for thorough search of vehicle. Therefore, the vehicle was brought in intelligence office.
Later, the FIU team seized the items under Section 16 of the Customs Act, 1969 and 3(1) (3) of the Import and Export Control Act, 1950 punishable under Section 156(1)90 of the Customs Act, 1969 and forwards the case to Customs Adjudication.
